Yass Queen! The Fab Five from Queer Eye are back and they’ve descended on the rural Australian town of Yass to bring a taste of the action to a trailer promoting their new Netflix series. Welcome the transformation show that makes the viewer feel as good as the makeover recipient.

Reasons to rejoice this week part one: Queer Eye season two premieres on Netflix this week and the reboot is giving us the first ever female client to benefit from a Fab Five makeover.

Oh how I love Queer Eye (I’ve written about why Queer Eye is brilliant here, offering you 10 reasons why you should tether yourself to a TV and watch series one RIGHT NOW) and how I love its stars, the irrepressible Bobby, Karamo, Antoni, Jonathan and Tan.

The trailer for the second season, which returns to Netflix on June 15, will include a visit from the Fab Five to Tammye, a teacher and cancer survivor and, later in the series, to a transgender man called Skyler who is keen to accept help from the transformation team.

“We have a really special treat you guys,” design expert Bobby Berk tells viewers, “we’re doing a lady!”

Antoni Porowski quips: “I haven’t done a lady in years…” to which Berk replies to the food and wine expert, “personally, I’ve never done a lady…”

Along with Tan France (fashion expert), Karamo Brown (culture) and Jonathan Van Ness (grooming and hair-flicking expert) the men will return to Georgia in America to meet a range of people from different backgrounds and with different beliefs to help them get the most from their lives.

We are not going to make it through this without tears. I cried watching the trailer for heaven’s sake.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this show is important, it helps people feel proud of themselves and it lets people know that they can fit in, whoever they are. It’s uplifting, it’s wholesome, it’s jam-packed full of light and humour, it will increase your tissue bill by 100 per cent.

Episode one sees Tammye, a devout Christian and church leader who lives in the hamlet of Gay in Georgia (I know, right?) trying to reconcile the faith she has been brought up with alongside an openly gay son, who she loves with equal fervour, which in turn offers Bobby a little bit of salvation.

He admits that he felt out of place in church due to his sexuality but later reveals to Tammye that he will try “to let go of some of the resentment and realise that not everyone out there who claims to be a Christian is good, but there are a whole lot out there who are.”

Meet you at the sofa to watch the entire series in one go – ugly crying will come as standard.
