One of theatre’s greatest comedy creations is back on stage in a play from a new drama group.

Lady Bracknell’s Confinement is the debut production for Chalk Reef Amateur Productions.

The one-man show, at Cromer Community Centre, stars John Church as the classic character from Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

Playwright Paul Doust’s comedy was written for a man to play Lady Bracknell, emphasising the pantomime dame elements of the character’s snobbery and obsession with social standing.

Director Gregory Hayman said: “The play will provide an hilarious evenings entertainment for lovers of Wilde’s original play and those who are new to it.”

The play takes place on January 26 and January 28 at 7.30pm. Tickets, £7.50, are available from Cromer Tourist Information Centre or online at www.coastarts.co.uk/events/event/lady-bracknells-confinement
