Norfolk and Norwich Festival highlights: 15 May

Here are today’s events for the Norfolk & Norwich Festival.



-The Assembly House, Norwich: Notus Winds. A lively programme that demonstrates the versatility of the wind quintet sound. Music by Harrison Birtwistle, Cambini, Norman Hallam, Fracaix, Ronaldo, Ligeti, Piazzolla, 1pm, £8.

-UEA Sportspark, Norwich: Opus No 7. Moving and majestic theatre experience from Russian director Dmitry Krymov, depicting the oppresion of Soviet Jews and the censorship of Shostakovich under Stalin. Featuring larger-than-life puppets, duelling pianos, living walls and

a blizzard of newsprint, 7.30pm, £18.

-Norwich Playhouse: Joe Boyd and Olivia Chaney. Legendary producer responsible for some of the most influential records (Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Fairport Convention) reading from his book interspersed with Chaney’s affectionate interpretations of songs, 8pm, £16.

-Norwich Arts Centre: Live Art Club. A Journey Round My Skull (Norfolk & Norwich Festival). Kindle Theatre explore the complexity of the brain through the perplexing world of auditory hallucinations, 10.30pm, £7.

-The Devil’s Mischief. Neil Paris, Sarah Lewis and Smith Dancetheatre with a choreographic exploration of ideas surrounds the Devil and God. In the foyer and bar, 10pm-10.30pm and 11.30pm, pay what you can.

-Girl in a Thunderbolt. Singer-songwriter, in the bar, Thurs 12.30am, pay what you can.


-The Gallery at NUA, St George’s Street, Norwich: Within. Film work by Tim Davies using the human body to explore aspects of architecture, noon-5pm, free. To May 24.

-Upper Cathedral Close, Norwich: Stephen Brandes – The Last Travelogue of Albert Sitzfleisch. Billboard trail reporting time travel. All day, free. To May 25.

-The Undercroft, below the war memorial, Norwich Market: Tipping Point. Kathy Hinde’s kinetic sound sculpture, noon-6pm, free. To May 18.
