Thousands of music fans have begun to arrive at the Norfok Showground to enjoy the third Sundown Festival.
Around 30,000 people, some travelling from as far away as Carlisle and Scotland, are expected to turn up during the weekend to enjoy the event.
Main stage acts include Example, Wiley, Rita Ora, JLS, Amelia Lily and Jessie J to name but a few.
This is only Sundown’s third year, and only its second as Sundown Festival, as it was launched as the Norfolk Spectacular in 2011.
A spokesman for the festival said: “The sun is shining, the gates are open and we’re set for an amazing weekend.”
Norfolk police are urging campers in particular to take care of their personal possessions whilst camping. Last year, a large number of mobile phones were stolen.
Chief Inspector Stuart Armes said: “Tents offer little protection, try to leave any valuables at home that you can’t keep with you. There is a small cost for the lockers; it makes sense to keep valuables such as phones which are often worth several hundred pounds, safely secured.”
Yesterday, police announced their top tips for staying safe over the weekend, which included:
• Take care of your valuables, keep mobiles on you at all times.
• Ensure your bags are safe and secure whilst distracted and watching the acts.
• Do not lock valuables in your car.
• Moderate your alcohol intake.
• Stay with your friends, don’t walk alone after dark.
Traffic for people travelling is expected to be heavy on the A47 in both directions leading to and from the showground and people are advised to allow more time for their journeys. But there will be dedicated First Bus shuttles available running from Norwich bus station every 10 minutes.
The weather is expected to be glorious, with no rain forecast, although slightly cooler than previous weekends, with highs of 17 degrees predicted for Saturday, so it may be an idea to pack your sun cream.
Day tickets for the event are still available at a cost of £30 when purchased online and printed as an e-ticket; they will be available at the gate on the day for £40. All VIP tickets have now sold out as have weekend and camping tickets.
