One of Norwich’s best loved events, the Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre will once again be an extravaganza of shopping, entertainment and live performance. Plus: Grapes Hill Garden Party, Teddy Bear Festival, Charity Air Festival and more.
NORWICH LANES SUMMER FAYRE

One of Norwich’s best loved events, the Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre will once again be an extravaganza of shopping, entertainment and live performance continuing late into the night.
In addition to a wonderful assortment of stalls ranging from vintage clothing to hand-crafted goods and local food, there’s a family-friendly entertainment line-up.
Bo NanaFana Social Club will be on Pottergate Green with vintage lovelies, cabaret, music performances and special guests. For something more traditional, the Golden Star Morris Dancers who will performing while there will be a more international flavour with the Anam Care Dance Company. Other performers will include the Norfolk Ukulele Society and circus acts from Digby’s Consortium.
Norwich’s old-school telephone boxes will be part of a family friendly art trail. Norwich Arts Centre and the Rumsey Wells will have all-day entertainment, while later in the evening The Birdcage will be hosting the Blue Skies Vintage shindig.
GRAPES HILL GARDEN PARTY

To celebrate the first birthday of the Grapes Hill Community Garden there is an afternoon and evening of entertainment at this garden party.
Less than two years ago the garden, between the St Benedict’s View at the bottom of Grapes Hill and Valentine Street, was an area of tarmac with four mature ash trees along one side and some Cotoneaster bushes. But behind the scenes local residents had been working since 2008 to turn the space into a garden.
Entrance is free and there will be storytelling with Sarah Walker of SarahSpinsStories at 3.30pm for children followed by live music with a line-up that includes The Dirigibles, Tom Conway, The Proposition and Joe Tozer & Nick Zuppardi.
There will also be a bar selling locally brewed ales and ciders, organic barbecue, plant sales and competitions.
CHARITY AIR FESTIVAL

Tibenham Airfield in Norfolk hosts its first-ever Charity Air Festival and marks the 70th anniversary of the first 8th Air Force missions flown from the UK during the Second World War. The airfield served as a Liberator base and the wartime home of Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart.
The event will feature flying displays from famous aircraft including B-17 Flying Fortress ‘Sally B’, P-51 Mustangs, Spitfire, Douglas DC3, Aero Stars Yak Display Team, Harvard, Bucker, Glider and Tug, Pitts Special and other aircraft.
On the ground attractions will include Lotus Historic F1 racing cars, military vehicles, police dog handling, model aircraft, vintage and classic cars and much more. A fifth of the profits will go to local charity Care for Life at Home.
TEDDY BEAR FESTIVAL

The popular Teddy Bear Festival at Great Ellingham returns for its seventh year. Running until July 222, it starts tomorrow with garage sales and more than 100 bears to see. There is also a Teddy Trail around the village, maps £1.
