The team at bespoke art business Tin House, based in Henderson Business Centre, Norwich, have worked for two weeks to create the giant guy, which stands at eight metres tall.

Ali MacKenzie, pictured, who runs the business with her partner Tim Tracey, has worked flat out for two weeks with the help of Peppi Alvarez and James McKnespiey to create the wooden giant.

Miss MacKenzie said: “The outline takes a long time. We helped work on it last year when it was smaller and it’s a lot more complex this year.”

The willow has been soaked in water for six days to make it more flexible and easier to mould.

Miss MacKenzie said she found building the guy “quite cathartic.

“Tim and I work together to design the guy but it evolves when we start working with willow – it has a life of its own. The most difficult part is starting it.

“We built a little model to work from last year which was to scale.

“Building the guy is very physical.”

The team first started making the guy last week. Miss MacKenzie explained that they start with the legs before moving them to another workshop because they take up so much space.

It will take three journeys to move the finished creation to the site in Earlham park.

Last year the guy held a mini model of the Houses of Parliament.

However, Miss MacKenzie is keeping tight lipped about what he will be holding this bonfire night.

Tin House will also work with pupils from Colman Junior school to create giant puppets, skeleton and lanterns for the parade.

There will be an open house for members of the public to help make giant lanterns for the parade. It will take place on Thursday, from 7pm-9pm at Unit 5, Henderson Business Park in Ivy Road in Earlham. Children must be 10 or above.

Sparks in the Park will take place in Earlham Park on Saturday, November 5, from 6.30pm. The guy will be burnt at 6.45pm.
