John Carlos and Tommie Smith’s Black Power salute on the 1968 Olympic podium sparked controversy and remains one of the most iconic images of Olympic history. Mr Carlos has told his version of the story in The John Carlos Story.

He will be speaking about the personal and political reasons behind the gesture at Cinema City, in St Andrews Street, from 6.30pm.

Mr Carlos will also visit Norwich University College of the Arts earlier in the day, to see an exhibit about the Mexico 1968 Olympics and talk with students.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from the cinema or by calling 0871 902 5724.
