Artists and a city gallery did their bit to help abandoned and rescued animals with a special exhibition over the weekend.

The RSPCA Norwich and Mid-Norfolk branch held its first fundraising art exhibition between at Mandells Gallery in Elm Hill, raising around £400.

Artists from across Norfolk exhibited their work with 50pc of all the money from work sold being donated to the local and independent animal charity.

Works from lots of different artists, in different mediums and styles were on display, including from Artists David Chedgey, Bruer Tidman, John Kiki and Lizzie Richies.

The exhibition was so successful that owner of Mandells Gallery, John Allen, is extending it until next Saturday, open every day between 10am and 5pm.

He said: “There’s been quite a lot of people coming in and we’ve had some good sales so we’re going to keep it going for the rest of the week.

“The RSPCA is a very worthy charity because everybody feels for animals and there has been a lot of interest.

“We’ve even sold what I would call the “Kitty art”, which was created by two kittens who had paint on their little paws and walked across a canvas, which went for £25.”
