The UK appears to be in turmoil. Our “first past the post” electoral system is farcical. We can’t get to grips with Brexit.

Terrorists appear to roam the streets of our big cities. Social care provision is in a state of madness.

Locally, Yarmouth and Lowestoft are effectively cut off by a crazy road system. I could go on but is there really any comfort?

Well not from the England football squad but I mustn’t despair. ‘Real’ papers like this one, continue to offer with their news cover, colourful local photographs and heartening pet stories.

My new housing society home is a friendly, well-run and comfortable place.

Our local hospitals are good, and the emergency services strive to look after us under pressure.

Norwich, whatever it’s shortcomings remains a fine city. I am still hopeful that “all will be well”.
