Last year The Norwich Fashion Week Designers Show brought the circus to town, this year things were a little more relaxed, as 12 local designers, milliners and stylists showcased creative collections.
• Translucent Fabric
Becci Ball's collection consisted of dark crop tops and skirts overlayed with a gorgeous translucent fabric that shimmered in the light, creating a unique look that would no doubt look great on a night out in the city.
• Bright leggings, big ruffles and elf ears
Founded in 2012, with a paint experiment onto cotton t-shirts, scarves and skirts, the work of The Secret Garden has developed to combine fashion, art and nature into one concept. Their Fashion Week collection featured an eclectic mix of fabrics and items, from big ruffles to wellie boots. The models also sported pointed elf ears, futuristic sunglasses and tote bags sporting messages such as 'think ethically'. There was a lot going on with these clothes, I wasn't quite sure what to focus on, but was a big fan of the pops of bright pink throughout.
• Plastic dresses
The outfits in Sydney Jane Clark's Subjective Reality collection were created using different materials and were 'inspired by the idea of reality and its distortion through time, perception and perspective'. The concept developed to encapsulate the idea of the circle, stemming from the idea of the eye. Fabrics used on the quirky designs include nylon and polyurethane which ultimately produced an incredibly modern and minimalistic look.
• Oversized head pieces
Gemma Hyde showcased a range of floral head wear that looked impressive, but perhaps aren't so practical for everyday wear (unless your neck can take the weight). Jane Richards, whose designs opened the show, also used hats within her collection, with two pink top hats threatening to steal the focus away from her bold use of prints.
• Big, bold jewellery
Statement jewellery has been a big feature at each of the Norwich Fashion Week 2017 catwalk shows so far and this one was no exception. Stoned and Hammered debuted a range of oversized contemporary necklaces that are set to hit stores this Spring. Long strings of chunky beads, big hoops and different metals all featured in the showstopping collection. Kate Elizabeth's designs also featured funky large beaded necklaces.
