Woodfordes Brewery, one of the main sponsors of the celebration on Friday July 27, is working with local children's charity Break for the competition.

Readers are being asked to submit possible names for the beer with a range of prizes on offer for the winning suggestion.

Woodfordes chief executive James Hughes said the as yet unnamed beer would be launched at the Norfolk Show and available to buy until the end of September with a percentage of sale proceeds going to Break.

'We held a similar initiative last year where we raised £1,800 for charity,' he said.

'It was a big success so we decided to do it again this year and have partnered with Break, a children's charity which does some wonderful work in the county.'

Prizes for the winner will include spending a day with the Woodfordes head brewer, a table for four at the Fur & Feather, and a goodies basket that will include some bottles of the newly named product.

The winner's name will also appear on the label.

'We're looking for a name that will be unique to Norfolk,' said Woodfordes COO, Nick Dolan.

'The label design will incorporate the yellow and black colours of the Norfolk Day logo so we're after something that will really stand out and represent the county.'

The new beer, which is being billed as a 'sunshine session ale bringing new tastes to savour those golden summer months' will be available on cask at Norfolk pubs and a limited edition amount of bottles will be produced.

Break's Martin Green said they were delighted to partner with Woodfordes.

He said: 'This forms part of Breaks 50th year celebrations and we have been speaking to Woodfordes for a while now so we are pleased they have chosen us to partner with them.'

Name submissions can be made at www.woodfordes.co.uk/break50 and entries close May 31.
