It has been a busy 24 hours for Norwich City and its fans with news of a potential legal challenge to try and safeguard their Premier League future, a battling 0-0 draw brave, but probably not enough to keep them up - and one of its players tweeting critcism of manager Neil Adams.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

Shortly after the 0-0 draw away to Chelsea Jonas Gutierrez, the Argentinian on loan from Newcastle and not in the squad for today’s game, tweeted: “Sad to see a not experience (sic) manager in charge”.

This led to a barrage of criticism from Canaries fans with @littlenorwich replying: “expected better of an experienced player like you Jonas”.

Less obvious was a tweet from fellow Argentinian Luciano Becchio, which also appeared to register his disatisfaction. It read: “I don’t understand anything.... :/” The striker has barely played since joining fromm Leeds last year.

After the game, manager Neil Adams told Radio Norfolk he was aware of the first tweet and added: “Little bit disappointed by that. You can’t keep every player happy. I am not on Twitter. I am bit of dinosaur in that respect but I don’t want anything to detract from what has happened here today. 18 players and I mean 18 there who showed a fantastic spirit with it all. I would rather focus on that.”

When asked if he’d be speaking to the on loan midfielder his reply was ‘maybe’.

Norwich’s draw means they need Sunderland to lose both matches and to beat Arsenal next Sunday to stay up.

The day began, however, with news that Norwich have teamed up with Fulham and Cardiff to mount a possible legal challenge against the fact Sunderland were not docked points earlier in the season for fielding an ineligible player.

Adams would not comment on the issue to the press saying it was a matter for the board.

  • TGWS, I reckon the best bet would be to concentrate on the Fairy-Cake Festival in Flordon. Young Stevie Fry`s Chairperson of the Judges, so the results could be bent in our favour. On a serious note, Sconery gets quite intense in Norfolk about this time of the year, and the Wroxham Barns complex is the epicentre of activity. The EDP will be full of stuff about scones, ere long. All the hype enables Ye Olde Tea Shoppes to flog 5p-worth of stodgy dough to gullible grockles for about £3.50 a go, once they`ve chucked in a bit of Tesco Value faux raspberry jam (made of turnip), and some squirty cream (non-dairy). Great for the local economy.

  • Brewer, are you sure the UK entry will win? I've just flown to Basel to take my grandfather's trusted recipe from the vault and I was going to use alternating greenage jam and lemon curd to give a subtle Canary effect. Should I stop now and aim for the World Rock Cake competition in Daffy Green in a couple of months time?

  • Thanks Brew I forgot about the scones I guess the UK entry has historical value and is a good investment. Where will anyone find Happisburgh cliff chalk in a few years time. Wasn't the Pan European Dominoes Championship held in Trunch in 1937?

  • I wonder what the chances are of a replay of the Anschluss (W. Germany v Austria 1982) ? Pretty high. West Brom and Sunderland know that a draw suits both of them, and if they push for a win they might concede a goal. Norwich's only real chance is to beat Arsenal and for Sunderland to lose both games ; they aren't likely to make up the GD.

  • To Martin Thomson, I remind you that we got Bradley Johnson on a "free", as he was out of contract. Your old Chairman, the curmudgeonly Master Bates, said "The lad can`t play anyway". Ya-boo. Becchio came as a trade-in for Steve Morison, with Leeds reportedly getting a massive £200k as a balancing figure. Morison was as much use to you as poor Luciano was to us; your Club sent him back to Millwall on loan - or was that later made permanent? Snods has been OK and I suspect he`ll either stay with NCFC (as Captain?) or find a low\middle-ranking Prem Club to join. Howson is an enigma. He sometimes looks `real class`, other times totally ineffectual, particularly with his tackling. Perhaps under a decent, motivational manager he`ll fulfill his potential? It`s about time he did. Two wasted years for the lad under Hughton, sadly. All in all, three of those four have given Norwich fair value for money. Becchio has been treated appallingly. He scored quite freely for Leeds in the Champ. Anyway, we`ll have two juicy league fixtures next season - the ones in L1 a few years back were highly competitive. Then we soon returned to the Prem, while Leeds didn`t. Now we`re on the way back. Hopefully, the descent will stop at The Championship this time.

  • Waclor, you forgot to mention The Eurovision Scone Contest. The semi-finals are being held at Nogdam End Parish Municipal Shed, and the Final Bake-Off is at Wroxham Barns. To be co-hosted by Alan Partridge (who really does exist) and Paddy Davitt (debatable). The event to be broadcast Worldwide on Mustard TV (International) PLC. Favourite to win is the UK entry, a whole barley-meal Norfolk beetroot & samphire Scone, dusted with oilseed pollen and chalk from Happisburgh cliff.

  • Personally I like Leeds. They have been a great feeder club for us for several years. This clearly annoys their 'fans' who appear to spend as much time on this site as they do their own. Sadly 'for them', until more of their 'fans' sort their act out and go to games to support their team and not to just cause aggro they will find that their players only ever use them as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Maybe someone can explain to us all why it is that their rugby fans know how to behave and their football fans are intent on trouble? I suspect that lots of them are the same people too???

  • In all fairness to Leeds fans, i think their club has had the better of the four deals that occured , Snoddy will move on as he did from Leeds , loads of effort not much end result, Johnson, all huff and puff and posturing nothing else , very much like Leeds Utd !! Howson a lot of potential yet to show he is true prem class for me and Becchio , well he has been treated absolutely shockingly, if he would stay with us i think could be a major player next year . But at the end of the day you deserve to be where you are in the league and that certainly applies to us oh.... and you Leeds Utd. See you next year y`all !!!

  • Martin, I support you in defending Leeds fans. I remember in the old division two at Carrow Road they carried on alternate chants of "We are The Champions" and "Champions of Europe" all through the second half despite being well beaten. OK the chants were totally untrue but the performance was quite impressive. One thing I must take issue on is the implication that football is the only event on in Norfolk. On a good weekend there are many village fetes, a couple of Morris Dancing displays and the mobile library. So there.

  • How can Guitierrez complain? He was about as much use to us as the so called manager who brought him here, absolutely useless. As for the mighty Leeds???? at least we don't owe anybody anything, and we are coming back to the Chumpionship in a far better state than they are. In fact, when is the last time they ever get close to the Prem? Look out mighty (sic) Leeds, and the Tractor boys down the road, we are coming for you. A guaranteed twelve points there methinks

  • Norwichabs; to stop the possibility of making yourself look a fool it is worth checking a few facts before you post. First of all Leeds is NOT a city of 1.5 million people but of half that number ie 750,000 based on the last census. Second our average gate this season was a little over 25,000 in the Championship. Considering that unlike Norwich there are many other things to do in Leeds including having the top club in Rugby League who had over 18,000 at their game the previous night, and that yesterday we had almost 30,000 for a meaningless game. Third you have now discovered what many at Leeds were already aware of the players you paid good money for were not Premiership quality good to see you coming back to your real home the Championship.

  • "mighty Leeds United?" A town of 1.5 million people that can't even get 20,000 for most home games. You have been our feeder club for years. Any decent players you want to sell this summer because we are light years ahead of you guys?

  • True, Jonas, has not had many opportunities but when he has had them, he has not exactly 'pulled up any trees'. Maybe the new manager at Newcastle who will surely arrive in the summer will like him better than Pardew does. Becchio does however have a reason to be disgruntled. Abused by CH all season, he should definitely been on the bench at the expense of RVW - how was he ever likely to come on and change the game. Wonderful spirit today - why, oh why, was it not there in other games this year....even just in the recent Fulham and WBA games would have done.
