Wroxham and Brentwood Town drew a blank as defences were on top in a docile affair at The Brentwood Arena.
The Yachtsmen will see the result as a point gained in their hunt for survival, with some good defensive organisation and effort from the players epitomising their afternoon’s work.
Both sides seemed intent on attacking from the off, the home side creating two great chances to take the lead early on.
Courtney White was guilty of missing the first on five minutes, showing some neat footwork to make his way into the box before scuffing his effort just wide from six yards.
The tall striker was causing numerous problems for the Wroxham back four, setting up Jacob Cleaver for another gilt-edged chance three minutes later, the winger miskicking at the wrong moment when free from 12 yards.
The second half continued in a rather uninspiring fashion, with both defences stifling the opponents’ attack, before Joe Marsden almost produced a moment of class to steal the points on 77 minutes.
The right-back picked the ball up from Stephen Drake after some good hold up play by the striker, before unleashing a brilliant first time 25-yard effort that curled just wide.
Remy Gordon then had a shot blocked from eight yards out as Wroxham finished the stronger, but this would prove to be the final act of a dull encounter as both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils, a point that may yet prove vital for Wroxham come the end of the season.
