Wilton hits treble as Cromer put pressure on Anglian Combination top two

Dale Wilton helped himself to a hat-trick as Cromer Town thumped six past North Walsham in the Premier Division at the weekend.

The Crabs ran out 6-2 winners, with David Matthews (2) and Matthew Eves also on the scoresheet. Antony Davies and Ross Joy replied for the visitors.

Victory leaves Cromer behind second-place Acle United on goal difference, from a game more. Acle – who have a two-point advantage – and leaders Blofield United had their games postponed.

There were also wins for Spixworth, Beccles Town and Mattishall, who occupy the places immediately below Cromer.

Spixworth were 3-0 winners at St Andrews, with goals from Ben Abrahams, Daniel Barraclough and Daniel Pennell.

Beccles Town won 4-1 at Kirkey & Pakefield Reserves. Andrew Cave-Brown was on the scoresheet for Beccles, along with Neil Hurren, Billy Davies and Anthony Martin. Kirkley’s consolation came from, Jordan Haverson.

Sixth-placed Mattishall were 2-1 home winners over Reepham Town. Jake Anema and Duncan Hewitt scored for the hosts, Beau Howard replying.

In the First Division, third-placed Poringland won 9-1 at Brandon Town. Mid-table Harleston Town scored six at home to Wells Town. Hadlee Wright got two, with Fionn Goodwin-Wright, James Trudgill, David Norman and Paul Bliss also on target.

Ritchi High scored a hat-trick with Samuel Shephard adding the extras as leaders Corton won 4-2 at Long Stratton, whose goals came from Sam Page and John King. Norwich CEYMS won 4-0 at Watton United to take their goals tally to 37 in eight games. Thomas Amis scored twice, with Darrel Delaney and Daz Smith also on target.
