Grant Holt and Paul Lambert in conversation.

Norwich City fans have voted manager Paul Lambert and captain Grant Holt into the club’s Hall of Fame.
The duo, along with Wes Hoolahan, Dean Ashton and Efan Ekoku, will officially be inducted at a special Carrow Road gala dinner on March 20. The quartet’s service to the Canaries will be recognised next month alongside Adam Drury, deputy chairman Michael Fougler and former player Alf Kirchen, who had already been selected by Norwich City and the club’s Historical Trust.
Club officials last night confirmed Lambert and the current players who have been selected will be in attendance at the gala event and it is hoped they will be joined by ex-players Ashton and Ekoku.
Now a respected media pundit, Ekoku scored Norwich’s first-ever goal in competitive European action when the Canaries beat Vitesse Arnhem 3-0 at Carrow Road in a Uefa Cup tie back in September 1993. Ekoku also notably scored four goals in a 5-1 Premier League romp over Everton that season. The former Nigerian international struck 17 goals in 45 appearances for the club.
Ex-England striker Ashton was Norwich’s record signing when he joined from Crewe in January 2005 midway through the club’s last Premier League campaign. Ashton’s goals almost helped Nigel Worthington’s men pull off a great escape before he moved on to West Ham the following season, but an injury on England duty eventually forced him into premature retirement.
The eight new inductees will join 120 members who have already been voted into the club’s Hall of Fame. Tickets for the dinner on March 20, priced £85 and £65, are available now by calling Canary Catering on 01603 218704.

Opinions are cheap, we will have to move into shared offices soon, not looking forward to that. Mind you, neither are my colleagues.

Gosh! Stats with no original opinion. Package it. Banking must be busy in Basel. Looking out of the window in the morning is forbidden. Would leave nothing to do in the afternoon. Might get stuck in the chair, too.

Just looking at the list, overall it is a pretty good reflection of the greats. It is interesting to look at the number of appearances, the most is Ron Ashman (662) follwed by Bryan Gunn (477), Joe Hannah (427) from 1921 to 1935 and Ian Crook 418. Mark Bowen is on 399. Ian Culverhouse has 367 and Adam Drury 320.

NorfolkBlue & Billy: At least we don't have to resort to basking in a tiny number of long-past glories. We're enjoying and celebrating current glories: League title, back-to-back promotions, top half of the Premier League. Your players, managers (past and present) and Board belong in a Hall of Shame for the woeful state of your poorly supported debt ridden club.

Is just being part of the Premier League your criteria to be inducted in to the hall of fame? Pathetic! Where is your league title? UEFA Cup? FA Cup?

the whole thing is tacky and disrespectfull to the genuine great players we have had,at this rate the list will be 1000 names long,it should be 1 player goes on it every 5-10 years and the player should of proved himself, not 6 months, its a joke.

well ashton is a much better player than wes, ashton has cut it in the premiership, where as wes just looks like some kid in the crowd has won a competition to play with the players. neither deserve to be in it,

Wes is ok! Glen Ruder-NO!! Ashton-no. Trouble is, in this 2-dimensional world we sadly share with the media trolls, shallowness is the deepest you`ll get.

Dean Ashton?? Weird. Where`s Bill Punton? Malky Mackay? Or are they already there? Aston Manor has so much right. And why does an anti-Norwich Troll like bookie still infest the boards? PL has worked a miracle.

Seems a pity to query any of the choices but I'm with everyone else re why Dean Ashton? Crazy. Belittles the award for everyone else - Compare want away Dean with the likes of the late Graham Paddon, Martin Peters Craig Fleming, Duncan Forbes etc etc

Surely Paul Lambert must already be the most illustrious name in Norwich's Hall of Fame by a country mile! Three seasons of fantastic success. From a demoralised position at the bottom of League 1 to 8th in the Prem. The speed of it is breathtaking. And he ain't finished yet (as far as I know.) Just think what he might do if he stays a bit longer. Norwich have had some fantastic managers over the years but PL beats the lot. Among the best were Ron Manager Saunders - maybe a bit dour but very successful. He got NCFC into Div1 for the first time ever and his subsequent Villa team win the Div1 title and went on to lift the European Cup. Who could forget Mike Walker - highest slot in the Prem (3rd) and that glorious win against Bayern Munich (I can still see Goss's volleyed goal in my mind's eye as if it were yesterday.) Then there was John Colourful Bond who brought World Cup Winner Martin Peters to Carra Rud. The one that got away after only a 10 minute stay was Martin O'Neill - if only!

Unfortunately I feel compelled to add a comment again. Dean Ashton - good player, one England cap whilst a West Ham player against Trinadad & Tobago. This was a man who who was quite happy to sign a contract extension in summer 2005 - after relegation, then within a few months was trotting down the A11 to West Ham - what loyalty. Yes he may be legend in Crewe, or even his home town of Swindon, but this 'honour' totally devalues the status of a Norwich legend. What next - Glenn Roeder and Peter Grant!!!!!

Of course Ipswich haven't had anyone worth inducting in the hall of fame for a generation. All of the previous inductees reside in old folks homes speaking to anyone who'll listen about the day they won their rusty medal.

I'm with you Songman. Ashton came, scored a few, couldn't be bothered in the Championship and quit for the Hammers. He cannot be regarded the same as Roberts, Huckerby and Co. What next... Hughes and Fotheringham?

How on earth can you justify Dean Ashton as a Norwich City legend? A player with great potential, especially for England, I am truly sorry a horrible injury robbed him of a career as a player. But a Norwich City legend? With absolutely no disprespect to him as a person he didn't even stay for a whole year with City and only found his scoring boots with a hat-trick just before the transfer window opened. Surely there are more deserving cases than him?
