Magpies are going through a difficult spell with three successive defeats and it does not get any easier this weekend as St Albans are unbeaten and second in the table, two points behind leaders Surbiton.

Magpies are still in sixth position, but the teams below them have been slowly eroding their comfort zone. Whatever happens tomorrow Magpies will need to improve in the second half of the season if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap. Fortunately there is every chance that a number of experienced players could be back in the new year.

Magpies can travel with real belief because St Albans have in recent weeks drawn at home against the bottom team, Horsham, and last week drew 0-0 st Old Loughtonians, who are one place from the bottom.

Despite losing to Surbiton last week, Magpies put in a real fighting performance –and will need the same attitude this week.

Harleston from: Frances Burrell and Charlotte Harrison (jt captains), Katrina Warnes, Louisa Greenacre, Lizzie Jones, Lisa Griffin, Naomi Hull, Sarah Brook, Jess Howland, Hannah Palmer, Angie Wheelhouse, Holly Baker, Verity Blyth.
