Wroxham fell short once again as they succumbed away at Tilbury.
The home side seized the initiative early on, taking the lead after six minutes as Wroxham were once again handed a large slice of bad luck.
Lee Weemes made a darting run across the edge of the box before losing control of the ball, only for Solomon Pope’s attempted clearance to rebound off the striker and into the bottom right corner.
With not much in the way of free flowing football, it was unsurprising that a set-piece provided the game’s second goal as Tilbury doubled their lead after 42 minutes.
A Sam Cutler corner was whipped in from the left, with Sam West rising highest to head home at the near post.
Tilbury made the more imposing start to the second half and it wasn’t long before they made it three, Rimmel Daniel scoring a superb solo effort after 55 minutes.
The winger beat his man down the left, before cutting in to fire his shot at Cruickshank. The ‘keeper managed to get a good hand on it, but it wasn’t enough as the ball looped in off the right post.
With chances coming at both ends, including a golden one for Weemes who diverted a corner over the bar when he was unmarked from three yards, the Yachtsmen managed to get back in the game through an own goal with half an hour to go.
But it was Tilbury who had the final say, Danny Francis compounding the Yachtsmen’s misery with a fourth in injury time.
Wroxham must now dust themselves for tomorrow’s trip to Soham.
