Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc happy with point against Norwich City

Artur Boruc was happy to see his injury-time penalty save ensure relegation-threatened Southampton earned a deserved point from their Carrow Road visit.

The Saints looked destined for late heartbreak when Luke Shaw clipped Grant Holt’s ankles in the box.

But the Polish international secured the visitors’ first clean sheet in six games with a flying save to his right, saving Holt’s firmly struck penalty and securing a draw.

“I’d rather look at it in a positive way – I’d rather have one point than none,” said Boruc.

“I’m happy with the point and with the clean sheet especially, because we’ve missed that in the last couple of weeks. We’re playing good football but unfortunately we have been losing. Hopefully we’re going to go forward from this point and keep staying positive, so now we go on to the next game.”

Boruc toed a diplomatic line on whether City’s penalty should have been awarded in the first place by referee Mark Clattenburg – who was surrounded by angered red shirts immediately after making the call.

But the keeper was more open with his gratitude to his coach Toni Jiménez for helping him save Holt’s effort.

“To be honest, I haven’t seen it on TV so it’s hard to judge (whether it was a penalty) but what happened, happened,” added Boruc.

“It didn’t look like a penalty from my point of view, but it was a good time to make a save finally.

“When you’re on the pitch you don’t have too much time to think, but we had done our homework. That is something our goalkeeping coach helps a lot with.

“You are always pleased when you save a penalty, especially when it keeps it at 0-0. It was very important.”

Actually Norwich were considering a nice red shirt with white sleeves but decided against it as it would look too ridiculous.

I am a lifelong Arsenal supporter but like to follow Saints. Although one of the dreaded second home people of Norfolk I like to see Norwich do well. However,I cannot get my bonce around those hideous bright yellow shirts. If there is a more revoltingtacky football shirt in football then I have yet to see it, may I suggest something different, how about a nice shade of dark blue?

Any versifiers out there fancy rewriting the `Cat & the Fiddle` rhyme replacing the "Norwich\Porridge" bit with "Norwich\Boruc"? Hey diddle diddle, the ref`s on the fiddle etc.....;-)

Yes, Lobbo and there was a similar situation with Capital One Cup if we had beaten Aston Villa at home, when we would have had Bradford City in the semi-final.
