Coltishall Jaguars saw a field of 250 runners take part in its annual Mad March Hare 10K after the event sold out of places for the first time in its history.
The race, from Frettenham Village Hall, was won by Paul Sanford in 33:36. The Norfolk Harriers member led almost from start to finish of the double loop course and opened up a sizeable gap from the chasing pack after the first 2km.
Sanford’s nearest rival, Mark Thompson (Great Yarmouth Road Runners) finished in 35:03 with third place going to Norfolk Gazelles’ Mark Grubb, who crossed the line in 35:17.
Closely following the leading group was female winner and Essex athlete, Sara Bird (Woodford Green AC) who came through the finish in a time of 36:03 and topped her last 10K performance at BUPA 2013 by three seconds. North Norfolk Beach Runners’ Emma Patel’s finishing time of 40:56 was enough to secure her runner-up spot.
