The MG Car Club host this weekend’s events at Snetterton with King’s Lynn’s James Walpole holding a single point lead in the race to secure the Peter Best Insurance MG Challenge.
The decade long rivalry the local racer has had with James Darby will continue on Walpole’s home track and with extra points awarded for pole position and fastest lap each tour of the Snetterton circuit will be a nail-biter.
With a championship title at stake Walpole will need to be on top of his game to fend off Darby’s challenge.
The guesting Morgan Challenge will see Snetterton favourite Keith Ahlers challenge Matthew Wurr at the head of the field while Class B racer Sharlie Goddard could wrap up the title.
Pete Foster was narrowly beaten in last weekend’s Equipe GTS event and is back again to contest the Ecurie GTS race/ However Tom Smith’s MGB is extremely rapid and a double winner this season.
The MG Trophy runners always provide an exciting end of season contest with little to separate Chris Bray and Paul Luti at the head of the field while Class C racer Andrew Ashton leads the series and should wrap up the overall title.
The McCarthy brothers, Spencer and Russell, head the MGV8 series but will face stern opposition from the rest of the field while the latter will also contest the Thoroughbred Sportscar series.
Tony Howe is a long time Metro Cup racer and takes on Dick Trevett and Jack Ashton plus a host of other racers all determined to end their season with a victory.
The traditional four hour relay race currently has 25 teams entered with the make-up of each still to be decided but the race is always hard fought and exciting to watch with an eclectic mixture of machinery.
The 14 race programme gets under way from midday on Saturday and resumes at 9.30am on Sunday.
