Robert Snodgrass only focusing on Norwich City despite Celtic interest

Robert Snodgrass has reiterated his focus is solely on Norwich City, despite speculation Celtic want to take the winger back home to Glasgow.

The Scottish Premier League champions were linked with a £4.5m approach for the 26-year-old Scotland international – something Canaries boss Chris Hughton denied had come to fruition at the weekend.

And while a return to Scotland could appeal in future, Snodgrass has just one thing on his mind at present.

“Glasgow is my home town and I stay five seconds away from the stadium, I’m a Celtic fan,” said Snodgrass. “When that (speculation) happens and so many people were texting me, I believe it’s in the newspapers back home. There’s so much speculation especially during the transfer window, but I’m here at Norwich and have 18 months left on my contract. I’m actually focused on doing as well as I possibly can at this minute.

“I think the performances I’ve shown over the past couple of weeks, I just need to get the ball in the back of the net and get my assists up.

“Saturday was my first assist in the Premier League this season, so I’m happy with that.”

  • The only despair is for those who simply can't comprehend that other people have opinions , and that those opinions carry equal weight . The view of some is that Snodgrass struts about gobbing off , very rarely getting the ball past the first man . To others he's a very decent player being coached badly . However you view it though , if Celtic offer that kind of money then taking it makes sound business given what we paid for him in the first place . Then the money coming in can be used on a decent centre half .

  • Get a bid in for Tom Ince , his contract is up at the end of the season and he is a class player .

  • £4.5million buys you better than Snodgrass , no matter how much you agree with each other .

  • I have to agree with littleyellowbirdie.I do not think Robert Snodgrass deserves these kind of attacks on what he say in the media or how he plays! The guy is talented. He has got great skills at getting past players. Its not easy playing to a managers negative tactics. Thats my answer to this subject.

  • Forget what Snoddy cost, what would it cost to replace him? All players have good and bad spells but he is a class player whom Norwich can ill afford to lose. So is Wes by the way. We have already seen the folly of letting a player go then looking for a replacement. Get the replacement first. We need to be in the premier league more than we need four and a half million quid although given the fruitless fun with Celtic last January, I am sure McNally would like to be equally awkward this year.

  • 1 assist in the EPL all season, "I am happy with that" . Dire. Just stop giving interviews snodders, your words are as bad as your crosses. Yet I bet he has more assists for Scotland this season, as Hughton has coached all the ability out of him. Sure he would be doing fine under proper coaches and a decent manager. No wonder he wants to go to Celtic

  • 4.5 million for Snodgrass? City should unload him immediately. There must be a player out there they could buy for that money. Somebody who can cross a ball, not meander into blind allies and actually pass to someone wearing the same colour shirt.

  • I recommend to you the Oxford English Dictionary, Bill! There`s a pungent bit in Catch 22 involving a dead horse being flogged. Is a `tribly` a sort of 3-cornered tam-o`-shanter? ;-)

  • Amazing turnaround in opinion from last season but I don't think he has done himself too many favours this season and not everything can be blamed in coaching management. The Villa-gate penalty incident was the most ill-advised of all. I guess he'll another like the Doc who polarised opinions (I thought he was a liability btw!)

  • After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that, unlike some people, I don’t know everything. But what I would say, with some authority, if I may be so bold, almost certainly, OTBC stands for ‘One thinks before commenting. Take note, those of you who know who you are. Secondly, I’m always slightly suspicious of people, and in particular, football players, who have excessively round shoulders, and no discernible neck. And as if that wasn’t sufficiently worrying, then consider that ,should they have adapted a habit of running in concentric or anticlockwise circles and eventually ending up where they started off, then as my dad used to say, like southpaws, they should be strangled at birth. And, if a man in a shady tribly is willing to give you four point five million notes for such a chap, then please don't ask imbecilic questions. Just doff your cap and quietly comment, 'thank yer very much guvnor as you belt off down the street at three thousand miles an hour. There, I hope that’s cleared that one up. I must say, I nearly always find our game plan confusing. By the way Brew, can you explain the difference between necrophilia and nepotism. Its got nothing to do with flogging a dead horse has it?

  • His work rate is not matched by his quality and his star is on the wane. We have other wingers now, most of whom play on the correct side of the pitch. He may not have footballing reasons to go (why swap the EPL for the SPL?), but he is obviously homesick and, with the right manager, we could probably invest the £4.5 million quite wisely in strengthening the squad. So, let's cash in while we can and let him go.

  • To all those in despair. Might I suggest how to avoid such negative feelings. Stop reading all other comments. Stay in your own world where only your opinion counts. P.S What the heck does OTBC mean ?

  • He'll probably end up moving to a more established Premier League team when he does go. Celtic would be something to do when he's near retirement as he's far better than that. He will go in the end. Personally, I wouldn't bother hanging around to take more rubbish from a fan base that doesn't appreciate his quality and work rate.

  • Since Tom Ince will leave on a "free" and Daddy Manager has got the hoof, I wonder whether there might be some connection? Nepotism is great, just keep it in the family. I bet `Arry @ QPR gets young Tommy... Nice little earner for the three of them. Blackpool seem to have lost out though. Infamy!
