Results: Survey finds Norwich City fans expect Sunderland to beat West Brom tonight

Sunderland are at home to West Brom tonight in a game that could decide Norwich City’s immediate future.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

If West Brom win, City live to fight another day. If Sunderland win, they stay up and City are relegated. If it’s a draw, City are still relegated, given that they won’t be able to make up the massive goal difference when they entertain Arsenal in the season finale at Carrow Road on Sunday.
In a survey ran throughout today, 53pc of more than 900 votes backed Sunderland to get the win ahead of kick-off at the Stadium of Light.

Just 20pc had faith the Baggies would win and ignite hopes of survival for the Canaries and 27pc voted for a draw.

  • I went into Ladbrokes to-day to ask the odds of RVW scoring a hat-rick on Sunday - they called Hellesdon to send an ambulance.

  • Such bad feeling from our blue friends tonight. Can only be driven by jealousy. NCFC have finished higher than ITFC in the football pyramid in each of the last four seasons. I very much suspect that will be the same next season. Cheer up my Suffolk friends.

  • We will have our backsides slapped by Arsenal on Sunday 6-0 with RVW spearheading a powder puff strike force and will whimper out of the Premier league with no return for at least 10 seasons - minimum - never mind, though - RVW might have reached double figures in his total goals for NCFC by then - possibly...

  • Lets face it, the departure from the PL for the poor little budgie club punching above their weight was destined following the release of the initial fixture list. We could all see there difficulties toward the end of the season, why didn’t they? Simply, idiots. I placed a bet on relegation for sad little budgies and as a result I am now looking at collecting a tidy sum... and in celebration I shall be swilling gallons of Ghost Ship! Oh such happy days! Oh and powelld123 your confusion is understandable considering the low level of IQ now proven in Norfolk.

Even if Sunderland get the 3 points deduction you're down. three of the worst teams to go down for a long time and with your team ripped apart I'd love to see how a ragtag collection of players will be able to survive the championship. Looking forward to caning you at Carrot Road next season when you're on your way down.

What I can't understand is why they are so pleased at the prospect of having us over next term to give them another couple of good thumpings. Surely they don't like to see their team humiliated again at the hands of their classy neighbours ?

  • I think a draw tonight with City a win on Saturday = too little too late. Gone are the days when teams went out to win.2 full backs, 3 midfield 5 across the front. How that would terrify the opposition now. How can you hope to score punting the ball up to a lone striker surrounded by 4 huge defenders.

  • Both managers will have a tacit agreement that a draw will leave both teams safe from relegation...QED....we go down in their stead!! We get what we deserve. We have had a manager that for most of the season played negatively with a "dont lose" mentality rather than a "let's win" mentality, and have 2 relatively expensive strikers who appear to have been coached not to scare defenders, and not to score goals. The net result.....the Hughton legacy for Norwich? The Championship next season...............................As an aside...I read that Neil Lennon is hoping to take Hooper back to Celtic on a cutprice deal!!!

  • What will happen ? They will play out a draw and both teams will stay up, sending us down. The only result that will save us (for a little longer) is a West Brom win. I somehow can't see Sunderland losing two at home and City beating the Gunners on Sunday. I guess we better prepare ourselves for the inevitable. Other teams results are irrelevant really - we did ourselves in by not getting results against the teams in the lower half. It's a pity, but we have to accept our fate now..........OTBC
