Norwich City are reportedly hoping to sign Celtic striker Gary Hooper and Leeds forward Luciano Becchio before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The Sun has reported that Becchio is set to leave Elland Road to join up with former team mates Bradley Johnson, Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson at Carrow Road with Steve Morison going the other way as part of the deal.

The Canaries are also set to improve their bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper but manager Neil Lennon has warned: “It won’t surprise me if another bid comes in, but the answer will be the same.

“My main aim is to keep Gary Hooper here. We have Champions League football to look forward to, we are 12 points clear at the top of the league and we are still in the Cup.

“If he is wanted now in January, he will be wanted in the summer. Peter Lawwell is with me on it. We spoke about it yesterday. He expects bids to come in - but the answer will be No.”

  • Hopefully all this striker speculation will drive the horse to give spurs a good kicking today! KK looked good in the states, I saw him a couple of times, works hard and has some pace and skill, but in the premier who knows, still I think he would be good for the squad and worth a gamble. Let's hope there's better to follow, not sure about Becchio.

  • I wonder what went wrong with Morison? He seemed to lose heart half way through LAST season. He has the attributes to be a decent player - specially if he`s learned anything at all from Holty. To paraphrase Sheryl Crow "A change would do him good".

  • Brewer, he's currently playing for Melbourne Victory in Oz. Normally they get gates of around 26,000 so similar to us. Heskey and Harry Kewell both rate him, probably why Liverpool are sniffing around. One of their coaches is Kevin Muscat, reason enough to want to leave! Have a quick look on youtube for his goals against Newcastle Jets or Perth?

  • Becchio + cash for Morrison looks a decent bit of business. Prizing Hooper from Celtic looks to be a difficult proposition, alot hinges on him. Looks like Curtis Davies will leave Birmingham, at present to Reading, but come on CH you need to become persuasive here - he should be coming to NCFC.

  • Everyone constantly criticises Steve Morison but seems to forget he gets no service at all when he is in the team. He has become subject to the Norwich boo-boys and constant rants from supporters who post on this site. Nobody was moaning about him last year when he scored winners vs Sunderland, West Brom, QPR, Newcastle and equalisers vs Arsenal and Blackburn. What short memories you all have. Lets hope Kamara andor Becchio are given a fair chance and dont become replacement victims of the boo-boy supporters and posters on this site. Any striker is only as good as the service he receives, which in Norwich's case is poor service.

  • Yes, CovCan, I can`t believe Morison is valued higher than Becchio either. Bite Colin`s hand off if it is true! Then, Moro might come alive at another club? Curtis Davies would be a bad "miss". Of our CBs, only Bass fills me with confidence, plus Cafu when drafted in alongside. Turner is OK most of the time, but his occasional "stinkers" really are bad. Ryan B`s development seems to have stalled. Why??

  • It looks like Celtic are "insisting" that Hooper will not leave in this transfer window. Of course, that could mean the deal`s been struck already, since nobody says what they mean (aka tell the truth). That`s business. Be a shame if we`ve not been insistently persistent in our attempts to get Curtis Davies. Do Leeds really want Morison?? Of course, Panto Dame Colin may be bonkers but he does know his football. I wonder what Moro`s "makeweight valuation" is - we paid nearly £3mill, I believe? Caveat; that report was in the Sun......

The acquisition of players from Leeds worries me - they appear to work hard (apart from Howson) but lack the finesse needed at this level. Hooper regularly scores, but is operating at an equivalent level to the lower reaches of the Chumpionship. As for Kamara; all I can say is I bl00dy hope not!! Wolfswinkel appears to be a different proposition altogether - Hughton needs to be concentrating his efforts on this man.

I make an effort and a not small payment to watch my team. Everytime SM's name has appeared on the team sheet this season I have felt like going straight home. I never did but always wish I had. Blood sweat and tears is what Holt gives. When SM plays the only tears are from the fans and there certainly isn't any blood or sweat coming from his body.
