City have enjoyed some early successes against Arsenal. They beat them at Highbury in the 1954 FA Cup, with two goals from Tommy Johnston.
Forty years ago, in 1972, Norwich reached the semi-finals of the League Cup, beating Arsenal 3-0 after a Graham Paddon hat-trick. And in 1992 City won 4-2 on the opening day of the Premiership competition. Players for both clubs include Terry Anderson, Steve Walford and Brian McGovern.
Our first photos are from a Division 1 game played on the 23 September 1972, which Norwich won 3-2, but ended up 20th in the table at season’s end. Our second series of photos is from when City played Arsenal in Division 1 on 20th April 1983. Our third match from Division 1, which Norwich lost 1-3, was played on 8th April 1992.
