The hosts made a flying start with three goals in the first 25 minutes as Rachel Drohan, Freya Le Serve and Emma Tillbrook all found the target.

Bury hit back with a goal either side of half-time, but Frankie Hall’s strike made the game safe for Pelicans.

Watton’s 6-0 demolition of Carlton Park saw them jump up to second on goal difference.

Miranda Nichols started the ball rolling with Watton’s first goal and Lucy Briggs added a second with a penalty corner strike.

Charlotte Paine weaved her way through for the third and then fired the fourth from a penalty corner after being teed up by Lynsey Reeves. Nichols’ delicate reverse stick effort provided the fifth goal and Reeves completed the scoring following a penalty corner.

Dereham suffered a third successive Premier Division defeat as they lost 1-0 at home to Canterbury II.

In Division 2NE, Norwich Dragons II collected a 2-0 win at Old Buckenham.

After a period of sustained Dragons pressure, Caroline Wolfe won a penalty corner which Saskia Delacave converted and in the second half the same player made the points safe by scoring from a short corner.

Second-placed Sprowston moved three points clear of their nearest rivals with a 2-0 win at home to Loddon.

Georgie Mackenzie put Sprowston ahead before Kerry Hamilton added the second after a short corner shot was saved.

Broadland recovered from going a goal behind early on to thrash Christchurch 5-1.

Carre Mills’ driving run and vicious shot restored parity and Broadland went ahead when Dani Parke’s shot crept over the line.

Mills made it 3-1 and Parke’s penalty corner finish had just enough power to find the net before half-time.

The fifth goal arrived in the final minute as Tracey Buxton scored with a crisp first time shot to seal a convincing win.
