A team of former Norwich School students, Old Norvicensians, have reclaimed the title in the oldest squash tournament in the world.
There are just two more results to come in the Premier Division of the Norfolk SRA Squash leagues and after two surprising scorelines it is certain that East Anglia II, who won their only title three years ago, will finish top of the division ahead of their first team who are the reigning champions.
Championship-chasing East Anglia II were without both five-times former Norfolk champion David Youngs, who was suffering from ’flu, and Tim Allenden for their Premier League match away to Barnham Broom but they still managed to record a highly creditable 17-8 victory to put them 13 points ahead of their first team who do have a game in hand.
In the Norfolk SRA Squash League either East Anglia or East Anglia II will become Premier Division champions and it is looking increasingly likely that Diss will be relegated. However the four other teams could all finish anywhere from third to sixth in the table which should make for some exciting end-of-season matches.
East Anglia II kept up the pressure on their first team at the top of the Premier Division with a convincing 16-8 victory away to Potters.
