A rare £5 note engraved with England Captain Harry Kane’s face could be coming to Norwich if England defeat Croatia in tonight’s World Cup semi-final.

Graham Short has been busy etching Harry Kane’s portrait onto the clear section of 11 £5 notes. The mirco-engraver from Birmingham previously etched the face of Jane Austen onto a number of polymer £5 notes when they where first released in 2016, each of those was valued at £50,000.

Speaking to the BBC Mr Short said he would only release the notes into circulation if the England team defeated Croatia, and that he would come to Norwich to spend one of the notes.

“I’ll zig-zag around Britain, going over to Norwich and the Midlands, Sheffield, Manchester and after awhile I’ll end up in north Yorkshire,” he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

“I don’t know how much they’ll be worth, but I’ve got nine finished, I started a while ago before the World Cup started.”
