15:21 19 November 2012
With Sunday being a designated County Cup day, Marlborough took the chance to move back to the top of the Premier Division as they beat The Grove 5-0.
Jason Armes put the home side in front after four minutes and then doubled his tally 20 minutes later after taking advantage of some sloppy defending. Shaun Brown made it three from the spot soon after, whilst further goals from Jordan King and Lee Mason after the break completed the scoring. The only other game in the division saw Acle Rangers slip into third spot after a 7-2 home win over Fiveways.
It remains a three way fight at the top of 1A. With leaders Norman Wanderers in cup action, both Sprowston Sunday and Windmill Wanderers took the opportunity to close the gap at the top to a point. Sprowston thumped ten without reply against bottom side Eaton FC, whilst Windmill took a coach load of fans for their trip into South Norfolk to face Aslacton, and were rewarded as goals by Nathan Joy (2), Lucas Kent and Gary Walsh gave them a 4-0 win. DCS Rapid went down 3-2 at Dussindale Rovers and there was a good 4-2 victory for Horsford Utd over Vale Longo.
In 1B, St Faiths stay top after drawing 2-2 (Matty Egleton, Grant Sleight) at Heartsease and are now a point ahead of Acle Rangers Reserves who were 4-1 winners at Rose Tavern. Matthew Plumstead (2), Robbie Rout (2), Jack Ainsley and Connor Simpson were all on target as PL Rangers ran out 6-2 winners at home to Moles Rest.
In 2A, there was a hat trick for Dan King as Dancing Farmers won 5-0 at Constable Crusaders, Nick Aston and Ross Brooks also scored, and Lewis McKerrell (2), David Darkins and Robbie Emerson scored for Deopham as they beat Acle Wanderers 4-1. There was a big win for Green Man as they put nine without reply past The Stores.
Poringland Wanderers slipped up again in 2B, as despite goals by Jonny Causton and Sol Pope, they went down 3-2 at fourth placed Salhouse Rovers for whom Neil Woolner (2), and Martin Woolner were on target. Third placed One Love Utd closed the gap at the top after a 7-0 (Bonito Gill 2, Teddy Alves, Armando Bofuki Alves, Fabrice Katabana, Jose Junior, Mamadu Jalo) win over Hillside OB.
Bungay Town increased their lead at the top of 3A as they won 5-2 at Eaton Young Boys for whom Neil Swatman and Brad Farrow scored, and Norman Wanderers A are now third after coming from two down to beat Temple Bar 4-2.
There was a shock for 3B leaders Angel Gardens as they were thumped 7-0 at William Wanderers. For the second game running, Daniel Childerhouse hit four for Wanderers, whilst further goals came from James Denmark (2), and Daryl Delaney. Shannon Cressey hit a hat trick as ten man Earlham Colney beat Salhouse Reserves 6-1 and Windmill Elite took the lead in the last ten minutes at Taverham United only for Danny Sweatman to equalise in a 1-1 draw.
The Stores Reserves gained their first point of the season after holding third placed Horsford Youth to a goalless draw in 4A and there was a good 6-2 (Shaun Hudson 3, Graham Moss, Alex Warren and Baz Allard) win for Micawbers Tavern over second placed Dilham Cross Keys for whom Michael Powley hit a brace.
In 4B, Mettingham were 3-0 winners over AFC Oak who say that referee Daryl Godbold was outstanding and after gaining their first points last week, winning seems to becoming a habit for Locksley Athletic as this week they won 5-1 at Bunwell Sunday, with goals coming from Jon Barnett (2), Ryan Higgins, Alex Godfrey and Jamie Livie.
In the County Cups Bayer FC, Dog House, North Walsham, Norman Wanderers, and Earlham United all went through in the Senior Cup. The Cottage, Mad Moose, Ribs Rovers, Schoolhouse, Riverside Rovers and Briston Wanderers progressed in the Intermediate Cup, and Sporting Longdale Reserves and CNSOBU Sunday moved on in the Junior Cup.
