Great Yarmouth and Thetford had to settle for a share of the spoils after a 1-1 draw at Mundford Road last night.

The clash between the sides standing sixth and seventh in the Premier Division table was a predictably hard-fought affair, with the hosts recovering from an early deficit to take a point.

Just three minutes had elapsed when Sean Perfect sprung the Thetford offside trap to put the Bloaters ahead - and the same player nearly made it two when his effort clipped the bar.

But the hosts hit back in the second half and got back on level terms on 70 minutes as Cameron King crossed for Robbie Priddle to convert.

As a result the positions of the two sides remained unaltered, with Yarmouth still one point clear of their Norfolk rivals, having played the same number of games.

Meanwhile Gorleston know there is no room for another slip-up this afternoon when they travel to lowly FC Clacton. The fourth placed Greens had an chance to cut the gap on leaders Mildenhall Town to just eight points when they entertained mid-table Brantham on Tuesday evening, but failed to take it as they crashed to a surprise 3-0 home defeat.

They still have four games in hand on the front-runners however and will be aiming to make their latest one tell against a Clacton side who only have Swaffham below them in the table.

If Gorleston could win it would set up Tuesday's trip to Mildenhall perfectly, although Felixstowe and Walton and Newmarket - second and third respectively having played more games that Ricci Butler's side - are also big title rivals.

Both will be strong favourites to maintain their promotion challenge against lowly opponents today, with Felixstowe at home to Wivenhoe and Newamrket hosting Walsham le Willows.

There are no top flight games in the region today, with basement side Swaffham travelling to Godmanchester and Fakenham visiting Hadleigh. Kirkley and Pakefield are also away, at Saffron Walden.

In Division One King's Lynn Reserves host leaders Stowmarket while Diss visit Halstead and Dereham Reserves and Downham Town are at home to March and Team Bury respectively.
