Sebastien Bassong could grace The Walks this evening as he tries to resurrect his Norwich City career.

The Canaries’ Under-21 squad head to King’s Lynn Town for their second friendly in three days and Bassong could once again be the star turn at a non-league ground after falling out of favour at Carrow Road (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Cameroon international played 60 minutes for the club’s development set-up in a 3-1 defeat at Boston United on Saturday instead of joining the senior side for their friendly at Dereham Town. So it’s possible that the centre-back could feature against the Linnets while his more illustrious team-mates take on Braintree Town.

Lynn boss Gary Setchell said: “It would be great to see a former Premier League footballer down at The Walks doing his thing. Bassong played at Boston in what was a strong Norwich side. So it’ll be a really good test for us. I expect them to have a lot of possession, a good shape, and it’s going to be a really good workout for us – it’ll probably be our best training session of the summer.”

Bassong, 28, made 30 appearances at English football’s highest level last term – none of which came during Neil Adams’ time in charge at the back end of a campaign which saw City relegated to the Championship. However, this summer the ex-Newcastle and Tottenham defender has found himself training with his outfit’s development squad.

Lynn will be without former Norwich player David Bell, Jason Lee and George Thomson, on trial at Chester. But striker Michael Frew is set to feature for the first time this summer after missing Lynn’s opening two friendlies.
