Talented Norwich swimmer and Olympic hopeful Isaac Kirby has received a boost to his sporting hopes after securing sponsorship from GSL Dardan.
Currently training at the City of Norwich Swimming Club and the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club, 13-year-old Isaac displays dedication and commitment to his sport by training for a staggering 15 hours every week over a period of six days, including 13 hours of swimming training and two hours of land training.
Isaac, who has been swimming for eight years, broke the British record for 200m breaststroke at the National Championships in July.
He is currently ranked first for his age group in the 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, and 200m individual medley.
Isaac is a talented swimmer and qualified for the British Championships earlier this year, despite being too young to actually go out and compete.
Alex Pinniger is Isaac’s coach at the City of Norwich club and hopes Isaac will qualify for the European Championships within the next two years.
Speaking about Isaac’s performance at the National Age Group final, Pinniger said: “Isaac’s performance was inspiring and appreciated by everyone watching. Credit must also go to Great Yarmouth and coach Garry Jarvis, who has coached Isaac from a young age.”
Speaking of his ambitions as a swimmer, Isaac said he would like to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics.
“If I was able to represent the country at the Olympics, I’d be extremely honoured and excited,” said the youngster.
Isaac’s mother Kelly added: “The sponsorship money will be of fantastic benefit to Isaac as he will be able to enter more open meets around the country, which are difficult for us to afford without external funding.”
