Australian gymnasts tumble into Lowestoft

AN Olympic-themed event is being held in Lowestoft tomorrow (Thursday) to welcome the Australian gymnastics team to the town.

Waveney Gymnastics Club and Gymnastics Australia are jointly hosting the Aussie-style barbecue, and a series of events at the club in Southwell Road from noon to 4pm on Thursday. There will be music and dance performances, with free entry for locals.

A club spokesman said: “This is one of the unique events we’re hosting during our Pre Games Training Camp period. The Torch Relay event, on Thursday afternoon, will act as the official welcoming of Gymnastics Australia to Waveney.”

With the Australian gymnasts training at the club ahead of the games, people can watch them training from 3pm tomorrow and also have their photograph taken with an official Olympic torch.
