City midfielder Simon Lappin admitted he could not wait to team up with Cardiff after agreeing a six-week loan deal.
Lappin, 29, goes straight into manager Malky Mackay’s squad for tomorrow’s Championship game at Barnsley.
“The move happened very quickly – the first I heard about it was on Wednesday,” he told Cardiff’s official website. “As soon as I was aware of the interest I was desperate to get down here. I spoke to the manager and said I’d love to come and play – hopefully now I can contribute to the great work the boys have done so far.
“I’ve played in a number of positions over the past couple of years at Norwich. I’ve played full-back, midfield and can cover a few positions, so I’ll be happy filling in wherever the manager sees fit.”
Lappin made 27 Championship appearances when the Canaries won promotion in 2010-11.
“The Championship is a great division, so competitive. People often say it’s the hardest league to call don’t they?” he said.
“I know David Marshall who I’ve played with before and I’ve played against the likes of Don Cowie and Kevin McNaughton over the years as well. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
