Norwich City midfielder Robert Snodgrass is a doubt for Scotland’s upcoming World Cup qualifying double header with an ankle problem.
The 25-year-old was an unused substitute for the Canaries’ weekend Premier League defeat to Chelsea, but Scotland assistant manager Peter Houston yesterday revealed the midfielder reported for duty with the injury.
“Snoddy was on the bench on Saturday with Norwich and never got on with his ankle, and it is still giving him a bit of trouble,” he said. “We are just going to monitor that.”
Snodgrass is likely to remain with the Scotland set-up for the games against Wales and Belgium, with fitness doubts also surrounding fellow midfielders Scott Brown and Darren Fletcher.
Brown is managing an ongoing hip problem, which forced him out of Celtic’s win over Hearts on Sunday, while Fletcher has made three appearances for Manchester United since returning to first-team action following a lay-off forced by a chronic bowel complaint.
“He (Brown) knows his body better than anybody,” he said.
“We’ll have to monitor the situation but if he is confident he can handle both games, who are we to argue?
“He has made himself available, Celtic have made him available. If we don’t think he is right for the second game then we will monitor that and take advice from the physios, doctors and Scott himself.”

I would rather have Snodgrass getting the ankle on the mend than having him get crocked for Scotland in these couple of weeks of Internationls.

Then we had a surplus goalkeeper and Turner likewise occupying space.

If he had a dodgy ankle, what point was there in having him on our bench?? Could have had Surman there. I don`t think Snods seems to want to play for Scotland....
