Norwich’s Premier League game at Liverpool tomorrow is expected to beat the wintry snap.
The Met Office is forecasting temperatures to drop only a degree or two below zero across Merseyside overnight on Friday, with Liverpool City Council pledging to deploy extra gritting vehicles in and around the Anfield area to clear the approaches to and from the stadium.
Norwich City’s squad altered their travel plans to head north on Thursday evening but chief executive David McNally confirmed tonight on his Twitter account the game is expected to go ahead with daytime temperatures in Liverpool predicted to hover around zero.
Games in the Football League at nearby Accrington, as well as scheduled fixtures at Rochdale and Hyde in the Conference, were postponed earlier today due to frozen pitches, but Liverpool officials are not expected to hold a precautionary pitch inspection.
No games in the top two divisions have been called off in advance, despite a prolonged spell of wintry weather and freezing temperatures which had gripped the country in the last few days.
Liverpool had been included in an amber weather warning by the national authorities over the last two days, with upto 10 centimetres of snow forecast for parts of the north-west region, but snow showers across the city first thing on Friday had largely cleared by early evening.
Train services were running normally from Norwich to Liverpool and the main arterial roads were also clear.
The Canaries had sold 1,800 away tickets in advance for the game and supporters scheduled to travel on Saturday morning are advised to check the latest weather reports before heading north.

The posting before mine was the whole point MB. The ethered posting was a sensible reply to the drivel - can't even remember what I said now. But the ethering, as usual rendered it irrelevant.

Keep it coming Ged - we need plenty of hot air to clear this damned snow, and allow our artists to perform at their usual high level of skill. They don't need any practice for "Dancing on Ice" !

That's a shame. I was hoping to be able to avoid the "Luiz Suarez Masterclass" today. Oh well, I'll try to be positive as usual, but I think we all know what's going to happen. Hopefully we'll get away with a narrow defeat. Look forward to seeing the all there, all the best pals - Ged x
