Kyle Lafferty is poised to miss the opening match of Norwich City’s Italian tour against Serie C side Novara on Sunday with a leg injury.

Canaries’ boss Neil Adams confirmed on Saturday the Northern Irishman is unlikely to be risked after suffering a leg injury prior to the club’s departure on Friday. Lafferty has scored in both pre-season friendly wins over Dereham and Braintree but with Ricky van Wolfswinkel staying at home after picking up a minor knee injury, Adams is ready to adopt a cautious policy with the big targetman.

“Kyle picked up the injury on the same day Ricky picked his up, but thankfully it doesn’t look too bad,” Adams told the club’s official site with Lafferty only taking part in a light session at the club’s Saint Vincent training base on Saturday. “We’re hoping he’ll be ok but I’m not sure if he’ll play in the first game. We’ll need to see how he is on the day, but obviously if there’s any soreness there then we won’t risk him.”

Adams also confirmed van Wolfswinkel is expected to be out for between ten days to a fortnight after scans revealed knee damage after a training session on Thursday.

City host Novara at their Chatillon Saint-Vincent training base in the Aosta Valley on Sunday. Kick off 6pm (CET).

  • Go for Cracked Actor without the live skull thing Lincs. Great guitar from Mick Ronson rip.

  • Hi Lincs, leeds might be keen but could they pay Becci's wages? A loan with us paying some of his wages? If he comes good we could welcome him back like Rudd and Surman, or sell him to a club who can afford to do business.

  • Seems more players get injured in training sessions than in matches. Seems crazy.

  • My dinosaur knowledge of music el dingo took me back to The Clovers who recorded the 1959 Lieber \ Stoller song Love Potion Number Nine. Tried to listen to Bowie song on youtube but it is blocked for copyright reasons.

  • Adams misunderstood the bit about Lafferty scoring prolifically in Italy.

  • Re Becchio, cutty. I see Leeds have failed to outbid Brentford for their first choice option to replace McCormack with a striker from Rochdale who cost the Bees £750k. Maybe Leeds frugal new owner, the reformed convicted fraudster from Italy, might have enough loose change to bring back their old boy.

  • Seriously, with all the alleged problems he had with woman when he was at Palermo. Was it wise to take him back to Italy?

  • Some of you seem a bit underwhelmed by this item. If you fancy a diversion from the routine Chloe is offering her services on the "Norwich Citys top boys will not leave..." board.

  • The club seems to fill its web site with these snippets which Archant feed on and release at regular intervals to try and appease frustrated supporters eager for some news. Come on Archant - let us have some news.

  • In a way I'm encouraged by the ridiculous number of injuries we seem to be having in pre-season. It should average out and we'll have a trouble free season? :

  • Perhaps good news that we resort to plan 'A' and play with the diamond with Wes in an attacking formation .......
