Norwich City could be on the verge of naming their new manager.
The Canaries are searching for a replacement for Paul Lambert, who resigned last week. And according to deputy chairman Michael Foulger, the search could well be over.
Speaking at Great Yarmouth’s Tuesday race meeting, Foulger told the crowd that an announcement on the management situation was expected “within 48 hours”.
Bookmakers have Birmingham’s Chris Hughton as odds on favourite to take over the Carrow Road hot-seat and sources in the Midlands are convinced the 53-year-old former Newcastle boss is leaving St Andrews for Norfolk.
Meanwhile, Lambert is due to be officially unveiled as the new Aston Villa manager at a press conference on Wednesday.

Lets not give BTB any more airtime, he has proven himself to be nothing more than a jealous Ipswich fan .... oh dear life in the Championship must be so boring if he tries to continually wind-up Premiership fans...OTBC ....IHWT....lol

I think even Royston Vasey would find BTB too weird, N`n`G. Briston would be about right. Briston & Holt Albumen have just parted company with their manager, Guddo Boye.

I neve thought Hughton would make the step up from assistant manager, but he's probably our best realistic option at this time. Hopefully he won't be too defensive, as I think it's been proved that you have to "have a go" at teams in the EPL to stand a chance. We don't want to go back to Worthy away days.

I think you'll find there are more British managers in the premier league than foreign.

What on earth are you going on about billy lad? We aren't playing in a foreign league, we're playing in the premier league.. I know the premier league may seem foreign to your team but that's not our fault...

If it is Hughton then billy's comments have convinced me, I support the choice. As for the euro search well Birmingham is just as distant.

Strange isn't it. On the one hand I want soemone in as soon as possible so we don't get left behind and on the other I am thinking, don't rush it! I can't believe that DMcN did not have a succession plan locked away somewhere.

Presumably 48 hours is required to sort out loose ends like compensation and back room team. Hughton is the pick of the names that have been touted for me. His record as a manager is impressive. I liked Curbishley too but his length out of the game is a worry. I wonder whether McNally's Euorpean search got beyond Harwich? Expect we'll know that fate of Culverhouse today when Villa unveil 'the great man'. IMcNWT!

Personally, I'd be happy with Hughton. He'll definitely be motivated, arguably badly treated at Newcastle, having done a good job there, time will tell, assuming he gets it of course

please no ,not hughton, just not good enough. get someone with experience, 18 months with newcastle and 12 months at birmingham is not enough, thats still classed as the honey moon period where players are playing to impress a new face, lets get someone with experience that when players confidence is low,the manager can get that little bit extra out of them, get alan curbishley or even mick mcarthy, hughton was an asisstant for decades for a reason because he werent management material,
