Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson’s work ethic while his team struggled against Liverpool will have been a pleasing sight for manager Chris Hughton. He ran harder than any of his team-mates, clocking up 6.23 miles.

His midfield team-mate, Bradley Johnson, will be hoping to escape the attention of the officials against Chelsea tomorrow. He ranks joint second on the EA Sports Player Performance Index for fouls with 16.

Steve Morison was the Canaries’ fastest player against Liverpool, being recorded at 20.57mph.

Robert Snodgrass is clearly the man Norwich players are looking to give them a spark going forward. Not only does he rank third on the Player Performance Index for crosses with 24, he’s also completed more passes in the opponents’ half than any other Norwich player with 105.

While Grant Holt’s chances in front of goal have been limited this season, he is likely to be disappointed with his defensive work so far. He has committed 11 fouls and lost 92 per cent of his tackles.

Young tyro Eden Hazard has proved he has more to offer Chelsea than just technical wizardy. He worked harder than any of his team-mates as he ran for 6.3 miles against Arsenal.

Another Chelsea new signing, Oscar, was the fastest player on the pitch against Arsenal, recorded at 21.59mph.

  • These stats always look dodgy. The most miles run figure too close to the average. I assume the GK is left out of this particular stat (not given this week).

  • Hmm - am I reading this wrong but all those stats look well down on previous ones reported on here. Who says stats don't lie? I hope to see those stats back at previous levels next week.
