The 30-year-old central defender is one of seven senior players who will not have their contracts renewed and are free to leave the club.

Bassong insists he 'gave everything for our club' in the lengthy farewell note and pledges to remember the good times at Carrow Road.

The former Newcastle and Tottenham defender was City's player-of-the-year, after an impressive debut season in 2012, but following the club's relegation from the Premier League was farmed out to Watford on-loan during Neil Adams' tenure.

Alex Neil offered Bassong a second chance and the Cameroon international was a key part of the squad that won Championship promotion at Wembley in 2015 before again falling out of favour. The defender made only 13 appearances in the past season, his last senior outing coming in March at Bristol City.
