Norwich City keeper John Ruddy has been linked with a £6m switch to FA Cup winners Arsenal to provide competition for Gunners’ first choice Wojciech Szczesny.

The Daily Mail report on Wednesday Arsene Wenger could make a move for the Canaries’ stopper, who impressed against the Gunners with a string of fine saves in the final day 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal which confirmed Norwich’s relegation to the Championship.

Ruddy has since missed out on a place in England’s final World Cup squad with the St Ives-bred keeper on stand-by to go to Brazil if Joe Hart, Ben Foster or Fraser Forster pull out of the 23-man party.

The 27-year-old made it clear after his England heartache he is happy at Carrow Road after signing a new long term deal earlier last season which ties him to the club until 2017 but the Daily Mail claim Ruddy is on a watch list along with former City keeper and Cardiff stopper David Marshall, who had an excellent campaign despite the Bluebirds’ dropping out of the top flight.

Marshall’s £15m price tag may prove prohibitive but the Mail claim City could do business at £6m. Ruddy was the subject of interest from Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea 12 months ago before signing his new, improved Norwich deal.

Ruddy’s Norwich team mate, Russell Martin, has admitted the likes of Norwich’s first choice keeper and midfielder Robert Snodgrass will be in demand this summer, with Snodgrass now linked to Hull City after previously being touted with potential exits to Celtic, Newcastle and West Ham. The Hull Daily Mail believe Steve Bruce could be ready to test Norwich’s resolve with a potential £3m enquiry.
