The appointment of Neil Adams hasn’t prevented the bookmakers trying to make hay of the Canaries plight.
Bet365 are offering odds of 6/1 that City will lose the remaining five games of their Premier League season – they are 4/6 to finish the season with 35 points or less.
Spokesman Steve Freeth said: “Norwich’s final four games of the season have been talked about for many a month. Add to that the fact that the Canaries haven’t beaten Fulham since 1986, and you realise that rookie Adams has a job on his hands.”
Cardiff are 1/16 to go down, Sunderland are 1/3 and Fulham 2/5, with the Canaries 6/5, West Brom 8/1 and Crystal Palace 12/1.
And while Adams is in charge until the summer, at least, one bookie – Stan James – was offering odds on “next permanent manager”.
Former player Malky Mackay leads the way at odds of 8/11, with Celtic boss Neil Lennon 5/1. Another former player, Tim Sherwood, whose future as Tottenham boss is under increasing scrutiny, is a 6/1 shot, while Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe is 10/1. The usual suspects – Alan Curbishley and Glenn Hoddle – are there, as well as Roy Keane, a dark horse at 33/1.
