Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan has pledged his future to the club by signing a new two-year deal which will keep him at Carrow Road until 2016.
The Republic of Ireland international has joined Ryan Bennett in extending his stay after concluding talks this week with the club’s top brass. The new deal completes a remarkable turnaround for Hoolahan who had a bit-part role last season and saw a transfer request rejected following interest from Aston Villa.
“I’m delighted to have signed,” he said. “Obviously last year it was a bad season for me but I came back in for the pre-season and the manager spoke to me and talked me through his plans. Now I just can’t wait to get started and I’m delighted to be here for another couple of seasons.”
Adams is in no dobut Hoolahan will have a major impact in the club’s bid for Championship promotion with the City boss making little secret of the fact he was keen to tie down the Dubliner after a sparkling pre-season.
“I’m absolutely delighted Wes has agreed to sign a new deal. He’s a fantastic player who can make a big impact for us this season and he will be an integral part of our squad,” Adams told the club’s official site.
City’s longest-serving player has made a total of 213 appearances and scored 37 senior goals for the club.
