Norwich City boss Neil Adams revealed new midfield signing Conor McGrandles was a teenager in demand after the Canaries beat a host of clubs to the Scot’s signature.
McGrandles trained with his new team mates for the first time on Thursday, and Adams admitted the 18-year-old’s growing reputation north-of-the-border made it imperative City acted swiftly.
“He is a really good player who has attracted a lot interest, not only this season but last season as well,” he said. “There were a lot of clubs taking a lot of interest in him and one or two Premier League clubs in amongst that so we thought ‘let’s get him now.’ We have paid good money. Falkirk have said it’s a record signing for them but it is not huge money. He comes into the first team pot here. He will not be training with the development squad, he is in the first team dressing room, he will have a first team squad number and he will train every day with us. He might be 18-years-old, but he has played 70 or 80 odd senior games and you don’t do that if you can’t handle yourself. He can put himself about a bit.”
McGrandles will not be involved in Saturday’s Championship home game against Bournemouth at Carrow Road as he gets used to his new surroundings.
