The 30-year-old, who has started all of City’s matches so far this season, committed his future to the Canaries this afternoon with the club having the option of extending his new deal for an additional 12 months.

City boss, Neil Adams, said: “Michael has been outstanding since I came into the job.

“That includes last season as well; he’s carried on the form he showed in those final few games into pre-season and then the start of this season.

“He fully deserves his new contract and we’re absolutely delighted that he’s signed on the dotted line.”

Turner joined from Sunderland in July 2012 and featured 28 times in his first campaign at Carrow Road, playing his part in eight clean sheets and scoring important goals against Aston Villa and Swansea City.

  • Hi Colin. I know Ayala is at Middlesbrough, but I wondered how he was doing. The enigmatic Hughton signing, Jacob Butterfield, has moved on from M`bro to Huddersfield - and he`s scored already! On debut, I think. A lot of players have blossomed upon being released from the shadow of Hughton the Hosta.. aka "Chrissy".

  • Deserves his new deal. Pinned his colours to the mast and wants to play for us = give that man a contract! Carlos Cuellar has just been confirmed as well so defensively we are looking much healthier already.

  • Can't begrudge him, well done, obviously showed his colours during pre-season and wants to be here .......... unlike some others recently departed (not as in the parrott sketch though !) .......... just 1 request please, we drop the "used to be $h1t3 but now he's alright" song, it's hardly inspiring is it ? Still, OTBC and BRING IT ON !

  • Good enough, but I'd like to see two new defenders signing contracts. Daniel Ayala went to Middlesbrough permanently,

  • Agreed MB re. Turner. Good for him. Bassong looked fit during the Lynn friendly. Situation really needs to be sorted one way or another. Guess there's a bit of price at state somewhere.

  • MB. Must be some kind of bust up between Bassong and NA. He never even gets a mention these days. I agree he should be offloaded. Always felt we were too quick to offload Ayala to Middlesborough, Might be another ex canary come back to haunt us later in season. Cracking result last night restored a lot of confidence in some of the decision making although I think a lot still need to be convinced. Personally I won't be passing judgement until after window closes and we see what we are left with. Have to give NA and board benefit of the doubt that they are working to get more names in until last minute.

  • Fair enough. Solid citizen. Then, so was Leon Barnett. How`s Daniel Ayala getting on? What`s happening with Bassong? If he`s being paid but not played, it should be goodbye time.
