Anthony Pilkington can be a real asset to Norwich City over the Premier League run-in insists Chris Hughton.
The Republic of Ireland international midfielder made his return from a hamstring injury in the closing stages of the 1-0 win over Hull.
Pilkington’s season has been blighted by a series of injury setbacks but Hughton is in no doubt over his value to the cause.
“It has been frustrating for him because he is a good player and even before my time I think when he is fully fit and firing he is a real asset,” he said. “Unfortunately that is part and parcel of the game and something he has to deal with but it is good to see him back. If you look at what we have had to deal with in the last month or so with injuries, it is good to start getting these players back.”
Pilkington replaced new loan signing Jonas Gutierrez against the Tigers and Hughton expects the Argentine international to prove his worth.
“I thought in phases he was good,” said Hughton. “We took him off because he hasn’t really played too much football. What he gives us is experience, on the pitch and in the training room and I am quite sure he will be a very good addition.”
