Andrew Surman has sealed a deadline day move to Bournemouth for a deal understood to be worth £1m to Norwich City.

The 28-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee, although reports on the south coast City's top brass had sanctioned a £500,000 deal are believed to be well wide of the mark.

City chief Neil Adams was keen to keep Surman at Carrow Road beyond the final year of his existing contract, but the midfielder made it clear during pre-season he was looking for regular football after a successful season-long loan stint at Dean Court last season.

Surman did not feature in Saturday's Carrow Road Championship draw against the Cherries, after a 90-minute outing in last week's Capital One Cup win over Crawley. Surman's only league involvement for Norwich this season came on the opening weekend at his old club Wolves.

The South-African born playmaker returns to Bournemouth for his third spell after playing alongside Cherries' boss Eddie Howe during a loan stint in 2005/06 when he was at first club Southampton. Surman was a key figure in the club's top ten Championship finish last season during a 39-game loan spell.

Howe's fourth summer signing has been allocated the number six shirt.
