Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Palermo striker Kyle Lafferty on a three-year deal.

The deal will be completed on July 1, subject to paperwork – with the former Burnley, Rangers and Sion forward signing on until the summer of 2017, with the option of a fourth year.

'Norwich is a team that wants to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first opportunity, so I'm excited to come here and start playing football for a team like this,' said Lafferty.

'I've played in the Championship before and I've played against Norwich, and things I noticed about the club were the fans and the football they played.

'Speaking to the gaffer, everything he said and everything he wants me to do, it's good to have someone like that believing in me. I can't wait to get started.'

The 26-year-old has 37 caps for Northern Ireland and spent last season with Italian Serie B champions Palermo, where he scored 11 goals in 34 appearances on their way to promotion.

Lafferty's arrival is City's second this summer, after Lewis Grabban made a £3m-plus move from Bournemouth earlier this month. That's two strikers – joining City's current contracted crop of four.

Former Celtic striker Gary Hooper has already been linked with a move back to the Premier League via a number of clubs – with City boss Neil Adams stipulating City need Hooper to stay. And youngster Jamar Loza signed a new two-year deal on Monday at Carrow Road, off the back of his top-flight and international bows.

Dutch record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel had to shoulder a lot of responsibility for City's shot-shy

relegation campaign last term, and his City future remains uncertain.

And while Luciano Becchio got limited chances under Chris Hughton – they were even harder to come by under his successor during Adams' five-game tenure.

The City boss has reiterated his aim to get Norwich scoring goals again – as well as the fact Norwich do not need to sell a single player this summer, despite relegation.

However, the arrival of 6ft 4in Lafferty would appear to make striker departures inevitable.
