Neil Adams is striving to turn Norwich City into a feared fighting force at Carrow Road.

The bullish Canaries’ chief wants to serve up a hot reception for Watford in Saturday’s first home tussle of the new season.

“We’ve got to go and take the bull by the horns and impose ourselves on it,” he said. “We are playing at home so I am not going to pick a team concerned to thwart the opposition. I will pick a team with a view to making them concerned about us. That is how it has to be. It’s different in the Premier League with the quality you face when you play a Liverpool or Manchester United or Arsenal if you want to compare it to the Championship. Of course you look at the opposition and you respect them but what I don’t want is for us to be fearful.”

Adams knows that means unearthing a killer instinct after failing to impose themselves on Wolves in last weekend’s opening league defeat at Molineux. The City boss is demanding a ruthless edge to his attacking policy this coming season.

“Certainly we want to create more, to have more shots on the goal,” he said. “We have looked back at that (Wolves) game and there were five or six excellent opportunities and the decision-making needed to be better and if it was we would have had pretty much open goals; situations where we have taken a shot perhaps when we should have looked to slide someone in. I took a lot of positives but we lost the game and that is not good enough.”
