Norwich City are reportedly one of the clubs interested in helping Newcastle United’s Jonas Gutierrez realise his World Cup dream with Argentina.
The winger has played just two games for Newcastle this season and is not thought to be part of manager Alan Pardew’s long-term plans.
The 30-year-old was handed the last of his 22 caps for his country in October 2011 and looks unlikely to be heading to this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
Gutierrez, who generally plays on the left and has also been used as a full-back at times by Pardew, has played 195 games and scored 11 goals for the Magpies since joining from Mallorca in the summer of 2008.
National newspaper the Sunday People has reported the Canaries and Championship side QPR are both interested in signing Gutierrez.
The same newspaper also recently reported that Gutierrez is heading for the St James’ Park exit door because of a clause in his contract which would earn him a pay rise if he reaches a certain number of appearances.
His current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2015.
