Norwich City’s excellent start to the season continued when beat Wisbech twice in the space of two days.

After starting strongly in Saturday’s Division 1N game City went behind from a short corner but then won a short corner of their own which was put away by Felicity Williams.

Following a fine ball through from skipper Jo Staines, Krystal Bishop then slotted home and after the break Ellie Brine set up Olivia Williams to make the final score 3-1.

Sunday’s away match in the cup was goalless at half-time but City took control after the interval to win 4-0 with Brine scoring a hat-trick and Ella Gill also on target.

Dereham lost for the first time this season, going down 2-1 at Harleston Magpies II, while Lowestoft won 3-0 at newly promoted Watton.

In the Premier Division Norwich Dragons lost 3-1 at City of Peterborough.

Peterborough capitalised on a break to slip the ball past keeper Siobhan Cleeve after 15 minutes but the visitors took control with some slick passing between Marie James, who went on to take the player-of-the-match title, Lou Murray and Lucy Ripman.

Dragons won six short corners but the goal just wouldn’t come and the hosts scored another breakaway goal before the break to make it 2-0.

The visitors eventually got the goal they deserved when James, Lara Taylor and Hannah Philips combined to set up Stacey Lee, who reduced the arrears with a superb reverse stick finish.

An equaliser looked on the cards but more chances came and went and the hosts wrapped up the points with their third.

There was a local derby in Division 2NE, with Norwich Dragons II seeing off visitors Norwich City II 4-3 in a real thriller.

Jess Bennett opened the scoring for Dragons with a fine solo effort. City equalised and although Bennett made it 2-1 they were back on terms again before the break.

Issy Wolfe restored Dragons’ advantage in the second half only for City to equalise for a third time but Wolfe had the final say in the dying seconds.

Alice Gill, Leigh-Ann Worrall and Hannah Jarvis were City’s scorers.
